Research Techniques


  1. Using libraries, search methods (indexes, catalogs)

  2. Advantages :
    1. It will be quick to find what you want,

    2.You can interpret different sources.

    Disadvantages: 1.The information in the book might be outdated

    2. The library might be far and will be hard to get to.

  3. Using the internet, search methods (search engines)

Advantages: 1.There is lots different search engine you can choice from.

2.also there will more than one links so if one is not right you can click an other.

Disadvantages: The information on some search engines won't be right

3.Photocopying and highlighting key quotes and images

Advantages:1.You can share your work to as many people as you want. 2.Highlights the key points.
Disadvantages:1.The photocopy won't come out as good and won't be as clear. 2.won't be able to read the words..

4.Making Notes

Advantages:
Can write the key points that will help you with what your doing.


Disadvantages:
Can lose the notes anytime if not in a safe place.


5.Interviews (written, recorded)


Advantages: 1.Written interviews are good for you to right key points the person says 2. recorded interviews are also good as you can replay the interview anytime you want to.

Disadvantages: 1.You can lose the paper 2. the could not hear the person clearly.

6.Observations


Advantages:You can see for yourself what is happening

Disadvantages:You might forget what happened

7.Questionnaire

Advantages:The responses are gathered in a standard way, so questionnaires are more objective, certainly more than interviews.

Disadvantages:Questionnaires are standard so it is not possible to explain any points in the questions that participants might misinterpret.

8.Survey

Advantages:
They can be administered from remote locations using mail, email or telephone.

Disadvantages:It may be hard for participants to recall information or to tell the truth about a controversial question.

9.Focus Groups

Advantages:Speak with your people before releasing a product to know if the ideas you've had so far will really work when released.

Disadvantages:Can be expensive and time consuming.

10.Meetings

Advantages:
You can have a 1 to 1 with the person.

Disadvantages:You can get nerves also you can make a bad impression to the person your meeting.
